I offer placenta encapsulation processing services (raw or TCM). This service is available to those birthing at home, birth centers or hospitals. For thousands of years, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has revered the placenta as a powerful and invaluable part of the postpartum healing process. After giving birth many new mothers experience blood loss, fatigue, and a drop in their high pregnancy hormones; all of which are thought of as key factors in the development of the “baby blues” and postpartum depression (PPD). Full of Qi, life energy, the placenta aids in postpartum wellness by replenishing your system with natural iron & protein and helps reintroduce these essential hormones back into your system.

Today, approximately 80% of women experience some level of postpartum depression/mood disorder. Using the placenta for its medicinal properties during the postpartum period is a natural & healthier way you can help avoid these symptoms and the costly treatments that usually accompany them, such as medications and counseling.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) – In this method, your placenta will be steamed with fresh ginger and lemon before dehydrating. This is to enhance its warming properties and help your body use the beneficial properties of the placenta in a deeper way. This method also kills bacteria and reduces risk of spoilage. However, there is concern about the degradation of the hormones when cooking the placenta. Additional herbs or foods may be used in the steaming process.

Raw Dehydrated Method – This method involves slicing the placenta while fresh and raw and dehydrating it immediately. Clients who choose this method consistently report increased energy as one of the benefits. It is widely held that the hormones are more likely to be bio-available when the placenta is processed "raw".

Placenta Tincture - Placenta tinctures are created using a small peice of raw placenta and 100 proof high end grain alcohol in a 2 oz dropper. Once its bottled it needs to "steep" for 6 weeks in a cool dark place. Tinctures are wonderful since they last indefinately. Only a drop or two is equal to a pill and keeps long after your pills are gone. The tincture can be used during times of transition, illness or stress such as PMS, depression, insomnia, or menopause. I recomend 7-10 drops directly under the tongue or between the cheek and gum, or if preferred, 10-40 drops in water up to three times a day.

Products are typically ready around 3rd day postpartum and I will deliver as soon as they are ready (possibly later if I am attending a birth as a doula).

The fee for Placenta Encapsulation is $275 or $295 for both methods (50/50) and includes pick up/drop off and all supplies needed for processing within a 50 mi radius.

I include a cord seed with each encapsulation free of cost.

Fee for 2 oz Tincture is $45.

All payments are collected in full upon contract signing and is required to hold your due date on my calendar and to ensure availability.
