Postpartum Visit

I love to follow up either at 24 hours after birth or about a week or so after the baby's birth.

At the visit I will, of course, admire the baby, Check in with the mother and her healing progress, talk about breastfeeding progress, and address questions the parents may have about their newborn and adjusting to the new life. It is also helpful to review what happened at the birth and shared experiences.

Belly Casting

A Belly Casting, or Belly Mask, as they are sometimes called, is a plaster form of a pregnant woman's stomach. (Actually, a woman's breasts are often included too.) It's a heartwarming way to capture what the mother's tummy looked like while she was pregnant with her little one.
I will come to your home, provide plastic sheet to protect floors, provide all casting supplies to preform casting. This cast can be of belly, belly and breast or inlude hands, whatever you like. I will sand it, reinforce it and seal/prime it. At this point it can be painted or decorated if you so desire. I will return your completed cast within 2 weeks of casting date. Most women are recommend to cast between 35 weeks and 38 week pregnancy.

Placenta Encapsulation

For thousands of years, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has revered the placenta as a powerful and invaluable part of the postpartum healing process. After giving birth many new mothers experience blood loss, fatigue, and a drop in their high pregnancy hormones; all of which are thought of as key factors in the development of the “baby blues” and postpartum depression (PPD). Full of Qi, life energy, the placenta aids in postpartum wellness by replenishing your system with natural iron & protein and helps reintroduce these essential hormones back into your system.

Today, approximately 80% of women experience some level of postpartum depression/mood disorder. Using the placenta for its medicinal properties during the postpartum period is a natural & healthier way you can help avoid these symptoms and the costly treatments that usually accompany them, such as medications and counseling. I love using Sophias Special Deliveries for my clients encapsulations. She does very clean and thourough work, and has a fast turn around! I will drop off your placenta before 12 hours after birth and bring you the capsules once they are ready (usually before the 3rd day postpartum).
